When a Fortune 200 utility company approached Zeta Group for a solution to digitalize their legacy wildfire prevention and mitigation process, Zeta Group developed a comprehensive suite of tools and automation to enable their employees to fulfill regulatory assessments at their fingertips anywhere anytime in 1/10 of the time.
Our client's previous solution to fulfilling wildfire prevention and mitigation (WPM) assessments included field crews utilizing tablets and laptops to refer to multiple seperate PDFs, checking geolocation for wildfire ratings, and comparing different outcomes on each pdf as a part of a segmented process to come to a final checklist of required tools and mitigations required to perform the job safely from a WPM perspective. Needless to say, although the process was detailed, it became a cumbersome task for crews in the field to do repetitively for each and every job.
Regulatory complaince of our client's WPM plan was one of the biggest hurdles. We worked with our client to dissect every detail in their plan to ensure the solution implemented meeted not only the minumum criteria but exceeded.
Our client's WPM plan was applicable to a large portion of the company (10K+ personnel). Everyday activities like digging, line repairs, or even weed wacking was factored into the plan year round not just wildfire season as required by regulatory body; thus the challenge of accountability. Zeta Group worked with the client to bring other stakeholder group representatives and developed a metrics reporting dashboard not only available for leadership but for functional area teams to see their accountability metrics.
Being that the plan was applicable to over 10K+ personnel, the change management challange was apparent. Zeta Group worked with the client to indentify stakeholders and representatives to be included in each step of the project. A timeline was formed inlcuding a rollout plan, in all stages of the plan (intial development, alpha, beta, pilot, rollout), the stakeholders were actively engaged including leadership.
